Wife and Mom Life

What’s Up Wednesday- May 2022

What We’re Eating…

This is our last full week (mine and the kids’) in our house, and we are working on purging things we aren’t moving with us, and I don’t have one semblance of an iota of a plan what we will be eating, but chances are I’m not cooking every night.

What I’m Reminiscing About…

I haven’t been thinking too much about the past because I’m a little overwhelmed with everything to be done over the next few weeks for the future, but also, I’m working overtime right now not to let myself be sad and if I think too much about anything in the past 6 years, I’m gonna lose it! 😭

What I’m Loving…

Things We’ve Bought and Loved this Month:

  •  Livy’s soccer team this spring was the Sharks, and for their last game, I got this pack of shark sunglasses to hand out to the kids instead of like a goodie bag of candy or something. They are really sturdy and both of my kids have been obsessed with the pairs left over. Did I put a pun-y tag on each one to hand out? Yes. Yes, I did. And I absolutely do not regret it/ was actually pretty proud of it 😎😉
  • Lucky Peacock Designs on IG shared these headrest hooks on her stories a few weeks ago and they are a game changer! I have a set on the driver/ passenger headrests for the kids to put their backpacks on during the part of the week they are using them, and a second set on the third row headsets into the cargo area to keep other bags (like dance, etc.) organized when we aren’t using them. If there is room, I put my purse on the passenger seat one so I can reach it from the driver side so it doesn’t take up my passenger seat.

What I’ve Been Up To…

May has been crazy busy! At the end of April, Henry went to stay with Gran and Bud for a few days, so we had Livy girl all to ourselves. We went on a fancy date with Daddy to Pappadeaux’s and to Ikea to look at furniture we were interested in buying (to order online and have delivered!). She also got to have a special cupcake date with me in between school and dance class on Thursday.

We picked up Henry on Friday, and on Saturday after soccer, we got to go out to GrandBetty and Pa Wayne’s ranch for the first time. Henry talks incessantly about “Ha Way’s (Pa Wayne’s) tractor” so it was a special treat for both kids to ride it!

We spent a lot of time over the next two weeks eating take out dinner at the park because we were trying not to make a mess at home before we closed on our house! Everyone loves extra time at the park!

The girls of Side by Side (our physician wives Bible study group) threw a Senior Farewell for the three of us graduating/ moving and it was so sweet! Leading this group for three years has been such a blessing and I will miss them so much!

We had Manicures with Mom at preschool before Mother’s Day and I got a sweet note, picture, and vase of roses along with my manicure. For actual Mother’s Day, I got new family photos, new sheets for our bed, and a stomach virus, haha! But luckily it was a short lived one!

The next weekend we got to go meet our new niece! She is precious and tiny and I can’t wait to live in the same town and get to snuggle her more often! (Also, I forgot how teeny tiny they are when they’re fresh!) Livy was so proud to get to hold the baby and loves her newest cousin.

This was followed by the busiest week ever- On Monday, we closed on our house sale (we’re leasing back for about a month, so nothing really changed other than we got our money, and now the countdown is on to get our stuff packed and out!). On Tuesday, we went with our friends (two of whom will be Steven’s practice partners when they graduate) to Pappadeaux’s for a celebration/ graduation/ just for fun dinner. On Wednesday, we delivered furniture we were giving away around town and worked on clearing out the house. Thursday was the last day of preschool and the end of the year preschool program.

I had my last Side by Side session/ meeting on Friday morning, and then we met with the moving company and found out we could get into our new house a little early that afternoon. On Saturday morning, we were up bright and early for our last soccer game of the season…

Then we ran home, cleaned up, and went straight to the annual end of the year dance recital for our tiny dancer…

And from there, went straight to our favorite crawfish place to have dinner with our families and friends and a (surprise!) graduation party for Steven! I wanted to have a little something for him while all our family and friends were already gathered, and I didn’t have to come up with a decoy or story to accomplish the surprise. And I pulled it off, haha! We are so unbelievably proud of him and everything he has accomplished- not just his excellent clinical skills and expertise, but also how any time I run into anyone who knows him at the hospital, they rave about what a kind, thoughtful, efficient, and fun guy he is. I’m so proud to be his wife, and can’t wait for the next step of adventure with him!

And we’ll wrap up May just finishing our purging and getting ready for the movers to pack! Today is actually my last day of work so it’s down to the last little bit now!

What I’ve Been Working On…

Not to sound like a broken record, but getting ready to move!

What I’m Excited About…

As much as it’s hard for me to get rid of things (I may have slight hoarder tendencies), I have found such joy and excitement in really paring down all of our things to just what we really love, or slowly replacing some things with nicer options. I’m so excited for somewhat of a fresh start in the new house.

What I’m Watching/ Reading…

We are still keeping up with Better Call Saul, but that’s about it TV show wise. We did watch The Lost City on Paramount+ a few weeks ago and I LOVED it! I thought it was so cute and funny.

Between audiobooks and eBooks, I knocked out seven books this month. Come back on June 14 for my full review of these! And click here for my review of the 4 books I read in April!

What I’m Listening To…

We’ve been listening to the Divine Sound playlist on Amazon Music pretty exclusively lately. Also a lot of audiobooks and the Office Ladies podcast.

What I’m Wearing…

Still all the dresses, especially ones that I get to match with my favorite girl!

What I’m Doing This Weekend…

We are going Friday to get keys for the new house and probably staying the weekend in the new (even though it’ll be empty) house, then coming back Sunday to get ready for the movers to come Tuesday!

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month…

Getting moved and then taking a BREAK! We are excited to have about six weeks of down time in between moving and when Steven will start at his new practice and we don’t have really any plans, and get to just have fun, relax, and hang out together until then and I’m so ready. The last few months have felt like gas pedal to the floor board one thing after another, and it’ll be so nice to slow down and breathe!

What Else is New…

Riding in the car with these two is never dull!

And if you need a sweet baby cowboy to walk your dog, I’ve got just the boy for you! ❤

Thanks for stopping by! Happy end of May and beginning of June! 🙂
