What’s Up, Wednesday {8.29.18}

Happy Wednesday, y’all! It’s time for a little life update with What’s Up, Wednesday with Shay!

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…

So far this week, we’ve had leftover pizza from Fire Street (we had dinner there on Saturday night, and then leftovers Sunday night), nachos, and chicken spaghetti (I was signed up on a meal train for an Alliance member on Tuesday night, which means I made a chicken spaghetti for us and one to take to a sweet family with a new little girl! Here is our favorite recipe!). We are eating blackened catfish at home tonight, and then leaving out Thursday to spend the weekend at Steven’s parents’ for the opening weekend of dove hunting season!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…

Our vacation in Pawhuska, OK! You can read the recap here, but we are still crushing so hard on Northeast Oklahoma!

WHAT I’M LOVING…

I’ve changed up some of my skincare and make-up products lately, and am really happy with everything I’m using right now! I’d say I’m about half drug store/ half Ulta at this point, but everything I buy from Ulta lasts for a long time, so I don’t have to make special trips often!

Current Make-Up:

  • Foundation: It Cosmetics CC Cream (Fair)
    • I recently bought the “illumination” formula because they were out of matte, but I really like it! It has a subtle shimmer to it that is really pretty!
  • Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape (Light)
    • This one has been raved about by all the beauty bloggers for quite a while now. I really like it so far! I mean, it covers up dark under-eye bags of a mother of a 6 month old, haha!
  • Blush: Milani Baked Blush (Luminoso)
    • So, I’ve been told this is a drug store dupe for the NARS blush that everyone loves. I haven’t ever tried that, but I love this! I’ve had the same one for over a year and it’s still going strong– a little goes a long way!
  • Eyes:

If I’m in a hurry and don’t have time for full make-up, or I just don’t want to wear full make-up, I’ve been using this L’Oreal Lumi Glotion and really like it! I use the “light” and it just evens everything out and makes you look pretty tan, actually! (But not in a fake orange kind of way, either!). A little of this and a little mascara and I can be good to go!

In other news, I’ve decided to stop treating my skin like garbage and try to be better about washing my make-up off and using moisturizer, all that good stuff. My favorite to use right now is the Burt’s Bees make-up remover wipes- the regular takes my eye makeup off the best, and then I go back through with a micellar water wipe. I started using Neutrogena night cream (simple and effective!) and Burt’s Bees eye cream at night and in the morning.

Munchkin is 6 months old! I just can’t even with how fast she is growing, but she just gets more fun and expressive every day!

We’ve been spending a lot of time at the lake to train dogs and get ready for hunting season!  We pulled out the camo overalls last weekend and Olivia looked so cute! I bought those overalls at Bass Pro a little over a year ago when I found out I was pregnant to surprise Steven. It was so surreal to have her wearing them now!
And this week, she’s been the tiny in-office assistant instead of the home office assistant. Our sweet nanny had to go out of state for a funeral, and Steven is on a research rotation, so we didn’t line up a back-up. We thought she could hang with me while he was at morning report and noon conference at the hospital, and then he would take her the rest of the time. And, then he got called in to help cover at the hospital, so she ended up at work with me instead. All my girls at work love to love on her while I see patients, and she does pretty well! We brought #allthethings to occupy her, and I have a new respect for moms that have to take their children somewhere in the morning– it is so much work to get a kid ready and all their stuff and get out the door! We love our “Grand-Betty”, but we definitely realized this week how spoiled we are to have her!
And being at work just wore Pipsqueak out! She refused to take much of a nap while we were up there Tuesday and then crashed once we left… And I felt the same way!

WHAT I’M DREADING…

Not really anything!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…

Not really any projects in particular, just trying to keep caught up on everything. It seems like the laundry, ironing, and other house tasks are always there, haha! And on Labor Day, I’ll pull out all the fall decorations and get to work!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…

WHAT I’M WATCHING/ READING…

Nothing new TV wise to report. I finished Why I Hate Green Beans by Lincee Ray and I HIGHLY recommend it! I want to be BFFs with Lincee! I’m still reading Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis (at some point I’ll finish this one!) and have Imperfect Courage by Jessica Honneger waiting up next!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…

That’s another nothing new! Steven’s been listening to a lot of Crowder, Whiskey Myers, and Ryan Bingham (slightly different ends of the spectrum!), so I listen to it by association, haha!

WHAT I’M WEARING…

I used some of my birthday money and ordered some new clothes from the sale at Blue Door Boutique last week (I’ve been ordering from them for years, and they are my favorite!). I tried to only get things that are nursing friendly since I’m really trying to make it to Livy’s first birthday with nursing. Obviously you can still breastfeed in clothes that aren’t nursing friendly, but it’s a lot harder (and breastfeeding is hard enough as it is– no need to complicate it more!)! I ended up with two dresses, two tops and one jumpsuit for a little under $100 and everything has really hit the mark on nursing friendly! {I linked what was still available below!} And– they have tons of cute stuff if you aren’t looking for nursing friendly, too!

I also found this dress on clearance at Target several weeks ago that I like knotting to give it a little more flattering shape, and then pairing with tights. I came in to work a week or two ago like this and was told I looked like a “hip mom”. Not sure what that means, but “mom” is a title I am so very thankful for!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…

We are headed out Thursday afternoon to Steven’s parents’ for the opening of dove season (and Tech football season!!). We’ll come back Sunday, and then next week starts our interview road trip tour!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…

All our interview trips! In particular– we’re heading for 4 days to New Orleans! I’ve never been, and Steven has the weekend off and a Friday interview, so we’re making a weekend trip of it and I’m so excited! I can’t wait to eat amazing seafood and check out all the historical sites!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW…

This little girl gets all kinds of pictures taken every day, so this is just a picture dump of our sweet girl!
