Hi, friends! It’s time for another edition of What’s Up Wednesday with Shay!
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
Well, Steven has been doing a research rotation in Dallas for the last two weeks, so I’m just kinda fending for myself. Pizza, quiche, and salads with chicken have been my go-to meals. He gets home tonight (yay!), and then tomorrow we are planning to have beef tenderloin, fancy mac and cheese (this involves gouda, gruyere, mushrooms, and bacon), asparagus, rolls, and pecan pie for our Thanksgiving meal.
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…
We also ate super delicious food! We had Mi Cocina twice (because it’s that good!), and the best Chinese food ever at Royal China. This is a small local restaurant in a shopping center on Preston and Royal, and they hand make all the noodles right in the middle of the restaurant. It is so good! It’s on the smaller side inside, and gets a HUGE crowd, so plan ahead if you want to try it (and you should!)– we got there at 5:15 on Saturday and were kind of the start of the crowd, and by the time we left at 6:15, the front was full and there was already a pretty good wait. But even then, it’s worth the wait!
WHAT I’M LOVING…
Right now, what I’m really loving is the International Delight Hershey’s Chocolate Caramel creamer for my decaf coffee in the mornings!
And I’m also loving this L’oreal Magic Skin BB Cream…
It actually comes out green, and then blends to match your skin tone. It’s very light coverage, but it’s perfect for days that you don’t want to do a full face of makeup, but want a little evening to your skin tone. It’s only $7.99 at Target!
And one more… I’m loving the holiday dipped pretzel rods from Target! I always love the chocolate toffee crunch ones, but I also picked up the white fudge drizzle ones this year, and they are so good, too! I’m obsessed with salty/sweet combos lately, and these are perfect!
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
I have been hitting nursery decorating (and cleaning and consolidating the guest rooms), and Christmas decorating hard! I’m not completely done with either, but I’m making pretty good progress! (I’ll share nursery pictures on our next Bump-date! 🙂 )
WHAT I’M DREADING…
I go in on December 1 for 3rd trimester labs and the dreaded gestational diabetes test. I am not looking forward to drinking my Glucocrush and getting that done, but once it’s over, we’re one step closer!
WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
Like I mentioned, getting Olivia’s room ready to go and getting everything we need for her. I’ll detail more on the next Bump-date coming up, but I feel like it’s finally all coming together and I don’t feel so overwhelmed about it. The last large thing we need is a swing/bouncer, and I’m hoping to find the one we want on sale for Black Friday, and then we should be good other than the smaller items.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
The holidays coming up! I’ve been doing Christmas music and movies for a few weeks now, but getting our decorations out makes it so much more festive! This is my favorite time of year! It’s also Steven’s, but that’s because it’s hunting season 😉 Since he’s been working on this research project in Dallas, we’re excited for him to come home today, even though this was an amazing opportunity for him/ his career and I’m so proud of him!
WHAT I’M WATCHING/ READING…
So, about a month ago, I got myself a library card and started checking books out at our local library. For one, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on books I planned to read once, but really, my bigger problem was I don’t want to have to find somewhere to go with the books when I’m done. I already have a large box full of books that I don’t need anymore that I have no idea what to do with them. So, the library is the perfect solution! 🙂
Since then, I’ve read all three Kevin Kwan books (Crazy Rich Asians, China Rich Girlfriend, and Rich People Problems) and they were so good! It was such a unique world to get a glimpse into, and he’s a very talented writer! I also started the Winter Street series by Elin Hilderbrand, and they are so good, too!! I’m waiting for the 4th book to be available and then I’ll finish up the series and I can’t wait! In the mean time, I just started A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams.
I’ve been watching Dancing with the Stars and a handful of other shows, but I’m not really super into anything at the moment. I’m kinda burned out on TV, honestly.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
The Lindsey Stirling album Warmer in the Winter is SO GOOD and on repeat for me. I mean, I’m listening to it while I type this. Just gorgeous. And I love her even more after watching her on DWTS this season. She’s got such a cute personality, and seems so sweet and fun!
WHAT I’M WEARING…
So… it has actually been a little cooler around here lately! I’ve been wearing boots and vests with my dresses and tights and it’s been nice! I even threw on a vest with my hoodie this weekend because it was colder than I anticipated while we were at the lake! My vest (Bass Pro Shop), hoodie (Blue Door Boutique), and jeans (American Eagle) are all non-maternity, and I still love my laser cut booties from Target from last year!
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
Well, it’s the weekend from today on out! Friday, I’m desperately hoping and praying for Tech to beat UT and get bowl eligible. Please add this to your prayer list, post haste. (I’m kidding, but we could really use all the help we can get 😉 ). Steven’s parents are making the rounds and visiting us this weekend after visiting my brother in law and sister in law in Dallas, and they are bringing a rocker for Ollie’s room from Steven’s granny. Steven is planning to go duck hunting at some point, and we need to take our Christmas card picture, too.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
Christmas! And being one month closer to our Olliewog getting here!
WHAT ELSE IS NEW…
I can’t really think of anything else! I’ll be rolling in on Friday with our 7 Month/ 3rd Trimester Bump-date, so stop back by for that! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
