Happy Friday, and Happy November!!

We’ve had a good week, and are excited for the weekend! In regards to our current weather, I’ve decided to take a Field of Dreams approach– if you dress for it, it will come. So, in the mean time, I have been roasting in my fall ensembles as it remains in the high eighties’/ low nineties’. The good news is that it started raining yesterday, so it’s been a little cooler (the seventies’). We’ll get there, y’all. Maybe someday. Until then, my sweet collection of puffer vests is staring me down every time I walk in my closet. That’s all I’m asking for– enough of a chill to wear a puffer vest. Our small wishes become VERY different when we become adults, friends 😉

One of our favorite things this week (this is just a bonus to the list) is our new basketball goal!

Assembling this thing was NOT one of our favorite things this week (the instructions were terrible and none of the parts or pieces were labeled), but now that it’s together, we’ve had a lot of fun using it! AND– we get to enjoy it with our Tech and Spurs basketballs we won at the State Fair!

Here are a few other things I’ve loved this week!

Panera Bread Hazelnut Creme Coffee K-Cups

We’ve had a Keurig for a long time, and I’d say it’s one of the best inventions of our lifetime. Before the advent of that blessed machine, I’d make coffee in the regular pot, and either have way too much or way too little and have to wash all the parts out every day, and all that other work (I guess it wasn’t that much work, but it seemed like a lot to have one cup of coffee in the morning).

Anyway, moving on from my deep-seated love for my Keurig, I struggled for a while to find K-cups that I loved that weren’t overly expensive, (I’m looking at you, Starbucks K-cups that are $10 for 12 cups. Good grief!) but are still good coffee.

One day at HEB, I decided to give these a try, and they did not disappoint. I’ve been buying these for the last few weeks, and they are definitely my new favorite. And when we’ve had people over that I’ve served coffee to, they have asked what kind of coffee it is because it is so good.

I have no idea if you can buy this at an actual Panera Bread, and I’ve never had coffee at a Panera Bread, so I’m not sure how it compares, but these are great. Check your local grocery store!

2. OPI “A Great Opera-tunity”

The past week or so, I decided to go with my new fall neutral fave- OPI’s “A Great Opera-tunity”. I feel like this is a fall neutral because it’s kinda orange-ish, but not overwhelmingly so, which makes it a good fall choice. I had it on for Halloween so I could be festive while still being professional and an adult. This is what it looks like on:

This isn’t the best look because it was about a week old at this point. I did my at-home shellac hack, which you can find here if you are interested. It typically lasts for about 2 weeks, which isn’t quite as long as a salon shellac, but it is significantly less expensive!

3. HEB Commercials featuring the Spurs

We are huge Spurs fans (I mean, our fur-kids’ middle names’ are Kawhi and Lamarcus, after all). Every year, HEB partners with the Spurs (in the early years, it was just the Big Three (Tim, Tony and Manu)) to make a series of commercials for the grocery store chain. And they are hilarious.

This is Tim’s first year of retirement (yes, we’re still mourning, don’t bring this up), so he got his own special commercial with other famous retirees. There are five other commercials featuring the main members of the team, and even though they aren’t actors, they are pretty funny. Sometimes, Steven and I like to just sit and watch them for a laugh. We are an exciting people, friends.

4. Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls

On days like yesterday when it is raining, my motivation to spend any actual time on my hair pretty much goes out the window. My hair is basically naturally wavy, so I have to work to curl it, and work to straighten it- it doesn’t do much of anything cute on it’s own.

In high school (which is much longer ago than I typically realize), the big thing was to “scrunch” your hair- meaning you put gobs upon gobs of gel and hairspray into your hair to convince it to be curly, when all that really did was make it want to shrivel up and be crunchy and stiff. We were so cute back then! This was a go-to for many occasions, but typically worked best in inclement weather because rain seemed to reactivate properties in the hair care products to make it more curly.

Over the years, the crispy curl look has been less and less desirable, but I couldn’t seem to find anything that will create curl like that method… until Miss Jessie’s.

It literally says on the bottle for those who are not wanting “Ramen Noodle Hair”– preach! It makes soft, wavier curls that aren’t crunchy at all- perfect for those rainy days. It is also good for getting the curl process started when you’re short on time and then touching up with the curling iron.

5. Pentatonix- A Pentatonix Christmas

If you are one of those “No Christmas Before Thanksgiving” Grinches- just go ahead and keep scrolling. Because I’ll be honest with y’all- I LOVE Christmas. And I do not adhere to any kind of timeline for when you can enjoy Christmas related goodness. I may or may not have stockings hung in our house currently (this is because we just bought them Saturday and I wanted to see what they looked like on the fireplace. And I liked them, so I didn’t take them down…). And along that vein, I’ve started pulling out the Christmas music.

This album dropped October 21 and it is wonderful!! I grew up in the Church of Christ so acapella music is the best to me. I love that they do mostly classics, with a few newer songs.

And the last song is N*Sync’s “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays”. That’s probably in my top five for Christmas songs (and don’t you dare judge me because EVERYONE loves that song) and this version is awesome!

All the Pentatonix Christmas albums are good, so this is a great addition to the Christmas acapella arsenal!
